In recent years, prisons in many regions of India have installed cell phone jammers to curb the illegal use of cell phones by prisoners. However, this security measure has unexpectedly affected the daily lives of nearby residents and institutions, triggering many complaints and dissatisfaction. Taking the Mangalore region as an example, although the use of signal jammers has effectively curbed the smuggling of cell phones in prisons, it has also interfered with cell phone signals within a hundred meters of the surrounding area, triggering a chain reaction in many aspects.
Campus communication interruption: academic life affected
A lecturer at Canara College recently discovered that her cell phone could not be used normally on campus, and initially thought that there was something wrong with the device. After inspection, it was discovered that the root cause of the problem was actually the newly installed Wifi jammer near the prison. This jamming device caused extremely unstable signals on campus, making it almost impossible for students and faculty to access social media and the Internet on campus, seriously affecting their work and learning efficiency.
Anna, an administrator at the school, expressed confusion: "In the past three days, our cell phone service has been basically paralyzed, and everyone has felt very inconvenienced." The school had to file a complaint with the relevant local authorities, hoping to readjust the coverage of the jammer to avoid further affecting normal educational activities.
